A letter sent home with students Wednesday confirmed that a teacher is on administrative leave, after charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor were filed against him.
The letter says that Cedar Springs High School teacher Mr. Jon Jungkind will be arraigned in district court Wednesday on the charges. The allegations involve one victim at this time. It is said that the case does not appear to involve any other students in the district at this time.
Cedar Springs High School Superintendent Ron McDermed says in the letter that the district has been working cooperatively with Kent County Sheriff's Department during the investigation. The district has also begun its own investigation.
Mr. Jungkind has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the school.
Anthony Alvarez, Former Arvada High School Asst. Principal, Arrested For Alleged Sexual Relationship With 15-Year-Old Student
Anthony Alvarez, a 40-year-old former assistant principal at Arvada High School, was arrested after his wife discovered sexually explicit messages he exchanged with a 15-year-old high school student on Facebook and forced her husband to turn himself in, according to the Arvada police arrest affidavit. Alvarez was arrested on charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
The Denver Post reports that Alvarez’s wife caught him “talking dirty” to a girl on the phone and a series of X-rated messages between the teenage student and her husband on his Facebook page.
According to the arrest affidavit, the girl said that she and Alvarez have had a relationship for six to eight months and that she felt that Alvarez was “blackmailing” her. The 15-year-old student had known Alvarez since she was in the seventh grade at Everett Middle School. The girl describes in detail the sexual acts Alvarez asked her to perform. She claims that Alvarez would touch her chest and butt on occasion, and once, he showed her his erection in his office.
Early in August, she described a particularly horrifying occasion where Alvarez allegedly offered to give her a ride home, she accepted because it was hot outside. Instead, she says in the arrest affidavit, that Alvarez drove her to a movie theater and parked. In the car he told her to rub and lick his penis. She did what he said because she was scared and the doors to the car were locked. After, Alvarez let her out of the car, she went into the movie theater and rinsed her mouth out with water and walked home.
The girl was scared and confused by the unfolding arrest of Alvarez, as well. When police asked to interview her at the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center, a safe house where officers could speak with her about the alleged abuse, she started to cry and thought the police were going to take her away from her parents.
Alvarez claims that he is not a predator, that she came onto him, and that he had never before had sexual relationships with anyone under the age of 18, according to the affidavit.
Alvarez is in charge of the cheerleading and pom squad at Arvada High School, 9News reports. Keara Collester, another Arvada High student said that, “Alvarez is a pretty cool guy. We go to him for everything. Everything just shocks me. He doesn’t seem like he would do that to a student.”
According to 7News, Alvarez has been a principal at Arvada High School since 2008 and has been with the Jeffco Public Schools District since 2000. Alvarez has been placed on paid administration leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Rap has lost any or all street cred. You got rappers who are rapping in songs by Justin Bieber, Rebecca Black and hell even Snoop Dogg appeared in a Big Time Rush album. I've lost all respect in the rap genre. You got grown black men rapping with white kids, which spells out pedophilia. You got Usher & Ludacris rapping with Justin Bieber. From what I heard(I did not see the video), there was some rapper doing a song with Rebecca Black. Then of course, as I've mentioned before, you got Snoop Dogg with Big Time Rush.
Now I know what rap is short for...RAPE!!! You can't spell RAPE without RAP. They rape you in the ear and they're raping these kids. My stance against rap has gotten stronger. Rap has gotten corny, pathetic and too mainstream. Hopefully in this decade that will change when metal bands rise again & stop this wave of insanity. The only way to do that is if there is an iconic metal artist that will change the music industry the same way Ozzy & Alice Cooper did in the 60's, 70's & 80's. The same way Marilyn Manson did it in the 90's.
Unfortunately rap started dominating in the 00's, which led to a dark period in metal. The only bands that were shining in the darkness are SlipKnoT & Cradle Of Filth. Unfortunately they're not enough to stop the popularity of rap. As rap has gotten more pop, metal remains in the shadows. The cancer? Pop radio, MTV and the mainstream exposure they give to these wussified artists.
How long do we have to wait until a more powerful & controversial heavy metal musician comes along? Only time will tell. Yes I know this blog post is yet another off topic xanga article that should clearly focus on the wrong doings of the school, instead of the music. But I must point this out, I can not be silent about this. It's bad enough the kids in our schools are listening to this garbage. We've already had a Brady Bunch decade in the 70's, we do not need it in the 10's. Thank god I wasn't born during the Brady Bunch decade, but I'm hoping that this decade that we're in now changes soon, where rebellion is appreciated, where metal itself is appreciated. Not this Sesame Street garbage that's out today.
